State Senator Erica Harriss, in collaboration with Meridian Illinois, helped brighten the holiday season for local families by distributing 100 free Thanksgiving turkeys on Monday at the Crisis Food Center in Alton.
“We are truly fortunate to partner with Meridian and the Crisis Food Center to ensure families across the 56th District can enjoy a Thanksgiving meal together,” said Senator Harriss. “Thanksgiving is a special time to gather with loved ones and reflect on the many blessings in our lives.”
Senator Harriss and representatives from Meridian Illinois and the Crisis Food Center personally delivered turkeys to recipients at the distribution site, which prioritized families based on need. In total, 100 turkeys were distributed at no cost, courtesy of Meridian Illinois.
The event was part of a statewide initiative by Meridian Illinois to support communities in need ahead of Thanksgiving.
