State Senator Erica Harriss and State Representative Amy Elik issued the following statement after US Steel announced that Granite City Works would be able to process steel slabs again, in a reversal of news from earlier this month that they would be halting slab delivery by the end of October:
“We are elated with US Steel’s decision to continue Granite City Works’ steel slab processing. This is a win. Thank you to the Trump Administration and Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick for hearing our voices, and our outreach and advocacy will continue. We will not give up on a long-term solution to keep these jobs in Granite City. The fight continues.”
