State Senator Erica Harriss teamed up with Meridian of Illinois to support local residents this holiday season by distributing 100 free Thanksgiving turkeys to the Collinsville Food Pantry on Thursday.
“Our goal is to make sure everyone in the 56th District has access to a nutritious meal this Thanksgiving,” said Senator Harriss. “Partnering with Meridian and the Collinsville Food Pantry allows us to provide support to our community members who need it most.”
Senator Harriss and Meridian of Illinois representatives personally delivered the turkeys to the pantry, which will distribute them to local residents based on need. After the distribution, Senator Harriss toured the food pantry to gain a firsthand understanding of the needs in the community.
“The Collinsville Food Pantry provides critical services to area residents,” said Senator Harriss. “I’m grateful to the volunteers and staff who dedicate their time to ensure that no one goes hungry in our community.”
The turkey giveaway event is part of a statewide initiative by Meridian of Illinois to support communities in need during the holiday season.
