Senator Harriss encourages constituents in the 56^th Senate District to capture the essence of their hometown through an artistic lens. This may include showcasing iconic landmarks, bustling streets, local traditions, or hidden gems, that represent the spirit that makes their hometown special.

Qualifications

The 2024 “Hometown Spotlight” District Art Competition is open to all constituents in the 56^th Senate District.

Artwork must be two-dimensional. All artwork must me no larger than 26 inches high, 26 inches wide and 4 inches deep, Including frame. Framing the artwork in optional.

Accepted mediums for the two-dimensional artwork are as follows:

• Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.
• Drawings: colored pencil, pencil, ink, marker, pastels, charcoal. It is recommended that charcoal and pastel drawings be fixed.
• Photographs

Each entry must be original in concept, design, and execution, and may not violate U.S. copyright laws. Any entry that has been copied from an existing photo or image, including a painting, graphic, or advertisement, that was created by someone other than the student is a violation of the competition rules and will not be accepted. Work entered must be in the original medium, that is, not a scanned reproduction of a painting or drawing.

How to Submit Your Artwork

Be sure to attach completed entry form to the back of your artwork.

To submit your artwork for Senator Harriss’ Hometown Spotlight Art Competition, please mail your artwork to Senator Harriss’ district office in Edwardsville by date May 17, 2024.

Winning Artwork

A panel of judges from the 56^th Senate District will review all entries and announce the winners on June 3, 2024.

Additionally, each participate will receive a Certificate of Recognition from Senator Harriss.
